SA:First report on ABC chopper crash emerges
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau has released its initial report into the Lake
Eyre helicopter crash that killed three ABC newsmen last week.
Veteran journalist PAUL LOCKYER, cameraman JOHN BEAN and their pilot GARY TICEHURST
died when the chopper went down near Lake Eyre in the South Australian outback on Thursday
night.
The report says it was fine and clear at the time, and the helicopter was equipped
for night flying.
Investigators have recovered all the major parts from a 60-metre trail of wreckage,
and will examine the engines, flight control system and GPS to determine the cause of
the crash.
