Fed: Aust wins $25 bln natural gas contract with China =2
Mr HOWARD says it's Australia's single largest export deal.
China has chosen Australia's North West Shelf venture as the sole supplier of gas toits first LNG project in Guangdong province.
The venture will supply more than three million tonnes of LNG per year for 25 years-- beginning in 2005/2006.
Mr HOWARD says the deal is likely to see extra investment in the giant North West Shelfprocessing gas facilities on the Burrup Peninsula, in Western Australia's north.
The partners in the Northwest Shelf venture include listed companies Woodside Energyand BHP Billiton's petroleum division as well as BP, Chevron, Japan Australia LNG, andShell.
